I have a 1999 Mitsubishi Galant, first year of a generation change. I recently started experiencing what I believe to be charging problems. When I start the vehicle, everything appears to be fine at idle, but as the RPM increases (idle or driving), the Battery light slowly starts to illuminate until the RPMs get up to approx 6k or 7k before the light goes out. Once the light goes out, it stays out until I turn the vehicle off. I have an sub amplifier that does not function properly until I raise the RPMs high enough to get the Battery indicator to turn off. If I turn the inginition switch to accessory mode, the radio plays but my amplifier doesn’t play until the car is started and raised to ~6k rpm. Also, when the battery is fully charged, the car starts right up. I think the charge is slowly leaving b/c I turn the key once, it clicks. Turn the key twice and it starts up. Am I correct in believing it is the alternator?
