Why do people drive sports cars if they are not going to take them to the race track?

I don’t think people should buy Corvettes and 911s if all they’re going to do if drive to and fro from work slogging around in traffic. What do you guys think? Shouldn’t you buy a car that fits the purpose of what you’re doing? If you’re going to buy a sports car buys a sports car thats built for the road like an RX-8 or a Mustang.
